Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 continued to charge towards $400m in its first week following an estimated $37.7m worldwide haul on Thursday [May 2].
The $361m global total includes approximately $315m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International, $15.6m through Buena Vista from Thursday pre-opening shows in North America and approximately $30m through DMG Entertainment in the first two days in China.
The blockbuster’s $345m international tally has already overtaken the final international totals of both its predecessors, as well as Thor and Captain America.
In two days China has become the lead market on $30m, followed by South Korea on $29.1m, the UK on $28m, Mexico on $27.9m, France on $23.6m, Australia on $22.4m, Brazil on $21.4m and Italy on $14.9m.
Taiwan has generated $11.9m, Japan $10.6m, the Philippines $10.5m, Malaysia, India and Hong Kong $8.3m apiece, Indonesia $8.1m and Spain $7m.
Russia generated $8m on Thursday for the all-time biggest opening day while Germany, which also opened this week, has delivered $4.2m and Thailand $2.5m.
