One Village will be headed by Brett Dismuke, who is named vice president of urban programming after 13 years of experience in marketing, sales and branding at companies including Disney, PolyGram and Universal Music.
Dismuke is charged with locating and securing new content as well as strategic planning, financial management, brand building and product lines for the division. He will work closely with director of urban marketing David Kimbrough.
One Village plans to provide independent film-makers with a home for their urban programming from which it can be distributed across multiple platforms including theatrical, broadcast, DVD and digital streaming and downloading.
Spirer, who also directed Thug Angel: Life Of Tupac Shakur and the Beef trilogy, will deliver a documentary to the new One Village agreement by mid-2008.
Image has already acquired several films to be released under the One Village label including Love And Other 4 Letter Words, Two Turntables And A Mic and Life Is Not A Fairy Tale.
