Imagenation Abu Dhabi has promoted Stefan Brunner to the position of chief operating officer, responsible for all operational activities of the company, at the same time as continuing in his present role of chief financial officer.

Imagenation chairman, H.E. Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, said: “Imagenation Abu Dhabi has made excellent progress since its launch last year and the new responsibilities for Stefan strengthen our management team as we prepare for the next phase of growth for the company.”

Owned by Abu Dhabi Media Company, Imagenation Abu Dhabi launched a $250m fund with Participant last September to provide production funding for 15-18 features and has a $250m financing deal with Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment for up to 20 pictures.

The first films from the Participant deal are Paramount Vantage’s The Crazies, starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell, and Summit International’s Furry Vengeance, starring Brendan Fraser.

Imagenation has also teamed with National Geographic Entertainment on a $100m slate of films over the next five years.
