Seven films have made it on to the shortlist for the visual effects Academy Award.

They are, in alphabetical order: Alice In Wonderland, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1, Hereafter, Inception (pictured), Iron Man 2, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and Tron: Legacy.   

All members of the visual effects branch will be invited to view 15-minute excerpts from each of the seven on January 20 before eliminating two ahead of the nominations announcement on January 25.

The 83rd Academy Awards will take place on February 27.
