India’s National Film Development Corp (NFDC) is teaming up with the Locarno International Film Festival for the third edition of its Screenwriters Lab.
The lab will be held in two parts – the first session will take place during the Locarno festival in Switzerland from August 8-12 while the second will take place at the Film Bazaar projects market in Goa from Nov 24-26.
The Binger Filmlab and Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), who have partnered before, will collaborate again at this year’s Screenwriters Lab, which aims to prepare Indian writers to sell original screenplays in the international market
In Locarno, the writers will work with mentors from the international filmmaking community to refine their scripts, while in Goa they will focus on pitching and marketing. The workshop will be co-ordinated by Binger Filmlab artistic director Marten Rabarts.
Film Bazaar, which takes place alongside International Film Festival of India (Nov 23-Dec 3), also features a projects market, Work-in-Progress lab and a Business Conclave on industry trends held in association with Screen International.
The NFDC is also launching sales on four new productions at Cannes – Bidyut Kotoky’s As The River Flows, Seema Kapoor’s Haat, Joydeep Ghosh’s Maya Bazaar and Laxmikant Shetgoankar’s The Man Beyond The Bridge.
As The River Flows, about a journalist searching for a missing political activist, was one of the projects selected for the first edition of Film Bazaar.
