Intandem Films will serve as executive producer and worldwide sales company for the film version of Catweazle.
The 1970s book and TV series, a UK hit that was broadcast in 50+ countries, is being adapted into a £6m film. John Henderson will direct and Paul Knight will produce.
The titular Catweazle is an 11th-century wizard who accidentally travels through time.
As part of the financing, Intandem and The Ettinger Brothers (Philip Ettinger is executive producing) plan to raise funds via the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS).
Andrew Brown, Director of Intandem, said: “We are delighted to be working with Paul Knight, Richard Carpenter, John Henderson and The Ettinger Bros on such a cultural icon and international hit. Catweazle is a classic and timeless ‘fish out of water’ story and will be a delightful, modern family romp. It will appeal to a very wide audience of adults who were glued in their millions to their TV’s every week revelling in Catweazle’s hilarious adventures; their kids and a totally new audience who, as with films like Harry Potter, love this genre.”
