Directors Joel Schumacher and Citto Masselli will receive lifetime achievement awards at this year’s Ischia Global Festival.
The pair will receive the Ischia Global Award – In Memory of Luchino Visconti at this year’s edition in July.
Both filmmakers had a personal relationship with the Italian master, and will receive the awards at Visconti’s famed villa at Forio d’Ischia, which has been recently renovated.
Schumacher, who turns 70 years old in August, will also discuss his upcoming project Twelve starring Keifer Sutherland, Ellen Barkin and rapper 50 cent.
The 7th edition of Ischia, July 12-19, will also have a programme of training seminars aimed at newcomers. A-listers including actors Christian Slater, Angela Basset and Franco Nero, and directors Paul Haggis, Billie August, Mike Figgis and Lina Wertmuller has confirmed their participation.
Meanwhile, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will be awarded the festival’s Cult Movie Award.
As previously announced, director Marc Forester will receive Ischia’s Social Cinema Award during the eight-day long event.
Ischia Global is co-produced by the Ischia International Arts Academy and the Naples Tourist board and receives support from principal cinema sources including the Cinema offices of the Italian Culture Ministry.
