W., Oliver Stone's biopic of outgoing US president George W. Bush has been picked up by independent Italian distributor Dall'Angelo Pictures.
The deal was agreed immediately following the film's Italian premiere on opening night of the 26th Turin Film Festival.
It was brokered between QED International's executive vice-president of international distribution, Kimberly Fox and Dall'Angelo Pictures chief Barbara Dall'Angelo in Turin over the weekend.
Prior to the signing, Stone told journalists that negotiations were in progress with 'a very strong, small independent (distributor) who will be very passionate about the movie.'
He went on to say he felt the film would have a long life, 'I think the movie will last the test of time,' Stone said.
Italian release dates have not yet been announced.
Oliver Stone was in Turin to present W. where it was screened in the presence of Italy's top industry professionals including filmmaker Roman Polanski, whose work is subject of a Turin retrospective.
Stone also underlined that one of the strongest messages he aimed to get across in the film is that George W. Bush has been underestimated. 'We haven't seen the last of him,' said Stone.
