Japanese pay-TV company Wowow Inc has set up an office in Century City, Los Angeles, as it sources content for three new HD channels set to launch in October.
Wowow currently operates one digital HD channel offering Hollywood blockbusters, foreign dramas, documentaries, animation, sports, music content and stage productions.
Kayo Washio will head the office and most recently served as manager of marketing and promotions.
“In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we are proud to expand the Wowow brand to Los Angeles,” Wowow president Nobuya Wazaki said. “This will allow us greater access to our partners and the industry, and capabilities to generate new content to provide our audiences in Japan and around the world with more thrilling and inspiring entertainment.”
