Author Jonathan Coe (The Rotter’s Club) will be the artistic director of the UK film festival From Page To Screen.
The event is for books that have been adapted into films, and it is a sister event to one of the UK’s longest running literary prizes.
Coe will curate the event, to be held in Bridport, West Dorset on April 13-17, 2011. 15 films will be shown.
Coe said: “I’ve always been fascinated by the relationship between film and the written word, and was delighted to discover that there is now an entire festival devoted to this very subject. The opportunity to play a role in shaping this year’s festival was simply too interesting to pass up.”
The 2011 festival will launch a new competition for film-makers to adapt a 30-second film from tthe winning story in the Bridport Prize’s Flash Fiction competition.
