Shekhar Kapur has produced a documentary about Indian cinema, Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, that will screen out-of-competition at Cannes.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Jeff Zimbalist, the documentary was commissioned by the Cannes film festival. It is described as a film that “brings together the most beautiful moments in the history of Indian musical films, with all their moving pageantry and dance”.
Kapur, who was a member of the Cannes jury in 2010, produced through UTV Motion Pictures with Ronnie Screwvala and Trishya Screwvala.
Bollywood is the only Indian film in Official Selection at Cannes, although Vimukthi Jayasundara’s Mushrooms has been selected for Directors Fortnight.
