Katapult Film Sales has picked up Chinese director Liu Fendou's Un Certain Regard title Ocean Flame, produced by Hong Kong 's Filmko Entertainment.

Liu previously gained international acclaim for Green Hat, which won best film and best director at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2004.

Based on Wang Shuo's novel Part Ocean, Part Flame, Liu's new film revolves around the troubled relationship between a petty criminal and a waitress. The cast is headed by Liao Fan, Hai Yitian, Monica Mok and Simon Yam (Election), who also serves as producer.

The deal, for all rights outside of South-East Asia, was brokered by CAA's Peter Loehr with Katapult head of sales and acquisitions David Jourdan and Filmko president of distribution Dominic Yip.
