Kathryn Bigelow will receive the Hollywood Director Award and Nora Ephron will collect the Hollywood Screenwriter Award at the 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival (HFF) and Hollywood Awards.

The gala ceremony on October 26 will also honour Pete Docter with the Hollywood Animation Award and Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen and visual effects supervisor Scott Farrar the Hollywood Visual Effects Award.

“It is a great pleasure to recognise the extraordinary talent of Kathryn Bigelow, Nora Ephron, Peter Docter and Scott Farrar and to honour their achievements and contributions to film-making,” HFF founder and executive director Carlos de Abreu said.

Bigelow is currently riding high on a wave of critical acclaim for her Iraq war film The Hurt Locker. Her previous credits include Point Break, Strange Days and Blue Steel.

Ephron most recently wrote Julie & Julia and her previous work includes Heartburn, You’ve Got Mail and Bewitched, as well as Oscar nominations for Silkwood, When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle.

Docter’s Disney/Pixar release Up has earned more than $500m worldwide. Docter made his debut as a director on Monsters, Inc, for which he received an Academy Award nomination, before doubling his Oscar nominations as screenwriter on Wall-E.

He also developed the story and characters for Toy Story and wrote the original story treatment for Toy Story 2. Buena Vista is releasing both films in 3D this weekend for a two-week run.

Farrar joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1981 as a camera operator on Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan and was promoted to visual effects supervisor on Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1987. He won the Oscar in 1985 for hiseffects work on Cocoon and since then has received nominations for The Chronicles Of Narnia, Backdraft, A.I. and Transformers.
