Lodge Kerrigan's Keane will no longer bescreening at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) Aug17-28).
The festival cited a conflicting commitment -understood to be a screening at this year's Deauville Festival of British film- as the reason for the move.
Replacing it, Edinburgh is to screen the WorldPremiere of Lasse Hallstrom's new feature film, An Unfinished Life, starring Robert Redford, Jennifer Lopez, Morgan Freeman, Josh Lucas, CamrynManheim and Damian Lewis.
Set against the rugged ranchlands of Wyoming, Redfordstars as Einar Gilkyson, a tough-skinned, retired rancher who - still in shockfrom his only son's death a decade ago - has let his ranch fall into ruin alongwith his marriage. Then, the very person he blames for his son's accident cometo town: his daughter-in-law Jean (Jennifer Lopez) with a girl who she swearsis the granddaughter Einar never knew he had.
Shane Danielsen, EIFF artistic director, said:'Both ourselves and Keane's makers very much regret losing the opportunityto screen Keane at Edinburgh but, regretably, these things happensometimes, within the world of film festivals. However we are extremely proudto be presenting, in its place, the World Premiere of Lasse Hallstrom's latestfeature."
