Celebrating its 10th anniversary as Singapore 's leading producer, MediaCorp Raintree Pictures has unveiled a slate of five projects, including three by the most prominent local film-makers and two co-productions with Hong Kong 's Salon Films.
Eric Khoo will direct Chinese Rose - a biopic of 'Queen of Striptease' Rose Chan, which takes a look at the seedy 1950s underbelly of Singapore through the eyes of a journalist.
Khoo's company Zhao Wei Films is co-producing with production due to start in the second half of the year.
1028 is writer-director Royston Tan's prequel to his 881 and marks the first project for his new production company 10twentyeight. Shooting will start on Mar 30.
And Kelvin Tong will direct an untitled epic - a haunting love story with time travel elements.
The two co-productions with Salon Films include a political thriller set in 1965 Singapore and Taller Than Yao Ming about an 11-year-old boy who travels to Beijing to play basketball with the NBA superstar.
Raintree and Salon Films first collaborated on Gordon Chan's $15m Painted Skin, due out in October.
Raintree currently has Jack Neo's Money No Enough Too, in production, for an August release.
