New Zealand feature Kiwi Flyer has wrapped its four-week shoot in Nelson.
The film is inspired by the Nelson Trolley Derby. Edward Hall stars as a young boy who wants to win the derby in memory of his father.
The cast also features Tandi Wright, Dai Henwood, VinceMartin, Doug Colling, Myer Van Gosliga and Jane Winter.
“Filming in Nelson has been just fantastic,” says Christchurch-based director and co-writer Tony Simpson. “The weather has been stunning – clear blue skies almost continuously and the people have been marvellous – so generous and supportive.”
Tim Sanders produces.
The film is now in post for a Christmas season finish. Rialto will release locally in cinemas in 2012.
Backers include the New Zealand Film Commission, NZONAIR, Mediaworks, Nelson City Council and The Venture Accelerator Group.
