Kuwait National Cinema Company (KNCC) has acquired Middle East rights to Afghanistan-set drama Tora Bora, produced by C Sky Pictures.
The film, starring Saad Al Faraj, follows a family’s quest to find their son who has run away to Afghanistan to join Al Qaeda. It was written and directed by C Sky founder Walid Al Awadi, with Siddiq Barmak (Osama) on board as a consultant.
KNCC general manager Hisham Alghanim said: “Tora Bora is one of the most controversial and dramatic films to come out of the Middle East. We believe this will be a much talked about movie and look forward to taking the film to great heights in its home territory.”
KNCC (aka Cinescape) is Kuwait’s sole exhibitor and distributes films across the region working with its associates Front Row Filmed Entertainment. Kuwait and Abu Dhabi-based C Sky Pictures unveiled a three-year development deal with twofour54 Abu Dhabi earlier in the market.
