Stir of Echoes, the second film from director David Koepp following The Trigger Effect, has won the Grand Jury Prize at the 7th Gerardmer Fantasy Film Festival (Jan 26-30).
The public prize went to Spanish film The Nameless (Los Sin Nombre), directed by Jaume Balaguero.
Michael York chaired the jury, replacing William Friedkin, who could not make the event due to weather conditions in New York. Jury members included US actress Gina Gershon, French actors Bruno Solo, Clotilde Courau and Arnaud Giovaninetti and Belgium's Benoit Poelvoorde.
The French premiere of House On Haunted Hill opened the event, which can prove a real booster for the French career of smaller fantasy titles. Last year's top award winner, Cube, a first effort from Canadian film-maker Vincenzo Natali, went on to sell 900,000 tickets in France for distributor Metropolitan Filmexport.
