In his first English-speaking role, Jang (last seen in Korean smash hit Windstruck) plays a Korean country boy who travels to Singapore to pursue his dreams of becoming a ballroom dancer.
As he struggles with life in the new environment, he falls for his instructor played by Wong which leads to a showdown with her boyfriend, a former martial arts champion played by Lee.
The action love story will be filmed entirely in Singapore over the next seven weeks as the latest project supported by Singapore Tourism Board's $6.6m (S$10m) 'Film in Singapore Scheme', which aims to lure foreign producers to film in the city-state.
The picture is the directorial debut of Max Mannix who also wrote the screenplay and heads up Easternlight. The company was formed as the Singapore-based production arm of sales agent Arclight Films.
Arclight's Gary Hamilton and Ying Yi are executive producing. The DoP is multiple-award winning John Radel who won a total of 11 awards at the Australian Cinematographers Society.
The picture has been pre-sold to Australia, US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore. A release in the second quarter of next year is expected.
