Les Arcs hosts 22 titles in co-production village, seven in works in progress section.
The third Les Arcs Film Festival (Dec 10-17) has announced 22 projects participating in its co-production village, including new projects from Claudio Cupellini (A Quiet Life), Damjan Kozole [pictured] (Spare Parts) and Dominic Savage (Love+Hate).
Savage’s Drewbreaker, produced by Arsam International, has Danny Glover and Sophie Okonédo attached while Cupellini brings The Beginners to be produced by Indiana Production. Kozole comes to the festival with Nightlife, produced by Slovenia’s Vertigo and Solveig Anspach brings new project Far Cry.
Rutger Hauer is attached to Ulrike Grote’s German production The Lying Dutchman, produced by Fortune Cookie Film while Marina Foïs and Gabriel Garcia Bernal are said to be interested in Cyril Cohen’s Suzanne la Pleureuse, produced by Barbecue Films from France and Jack O’Connell is attached to Sean Conway’s Whorses. Maria de Medeiros, Cécile Cassel, Tchéky Kario and Richard E Grant are on board for Camille Griffin’s feature debut Heatwave, a France-set thriller from the UK’s CMP Film Ltd.
For its third edition the festival is inaugurating a works in progress section, with seven European films currently in post-production selected for industry screenings. The sidebar is programmed by Frederic Boyer, Les Arcs Artistic Director.
Projects in the WIP section include E Stato Il Figlio starring Tony Servillo from Vincere cinematographer Daniele Cipri and new films from Szabolcs Hajdu and Baltasar Kormakur.
More than 200 industry will attend the event in the French Alps, which includes the co-production village, a film schools village, workshops, conferences and D.I.R.E Days, the opportunity for French distributors to showcase new work to more than 100 exhibitors. Michele Placido heads the competition jury, overseeing titles including Terraferma, Bullhead and Sarah Palin: You Betcha!. There is also a focus on Italian cinema.
