Denmark-based international film sales company LevelK has taken on Me and My Umbrella (Eu e Meu Guarda-Chuva).
Brazilian director Toni Vanzolini, who has made commercials, TV and music videos, makes his feature directorial debut with the film, which will compete at Cinekid-Amsterdam.
LevelK MD Tine Klint will introduce the project to buyers in Toronto and MIPCOM.
20th Century Fox Brazil will open the film on 100 prints in Brazil starting Oct 8.
The story, based on the book by Branco Mello and Hugo Possolo, is about two kids who try to rescue (with the help of a special umbrella) a friend who has been kidnapped by a ruthless baron. The target audience is 8-12 year olds and their parents.
“It happens to touch my personal soft spot in cinema: commercial family entertainment,” Klint says.
Vanzolini also produced the movie for Conspiração Filmes, with Fox Filmes do Brazil and Moonshot Pictures Production. Executive producers include Eliana Soárez, Leonardo M Barros, Luiz Noronha and Pedro Buarque de Hollanda.
