The co-production with Italy's Classic and Albachiara and the director's own company Angelopoulos Film, will star Harvey Keitel, Bruno Ganz, Willem Dafoe and Valeria Golino and be partly shot from the end of October in North Rhine-Westphalia where it received $1m (Euros 750,000) backing from the regional funder Filmstiftung NRW.
Lichtmeer Film is managed by Claudia Poepsel and Berlin producer Alexander Thies whose distribution company NFP will distribute Dust Of Time in Germany. International sales will be handled by The Match Factory.
Anno Saul's 1999 emotional drama The Green Desert had been distributed by Lichtmeer Filmverleih.
