Lions Gate Entertainment hastake Canadian rights in all media to Phil The Alien, the debut of writer-director-actor Rob Stefaniuk.The story of an intergalactic nomad who falls to earth in Northern Ontario, thefilm screened in the Canada First! feature film competition at Toronto.
Produced by Toronto-basedproduction company Black Walk, it features Stefaniuk alongside Nicole Deboer,Bruce Hunter, Boyd Banks and veteran Canadian comic Joe Flaherty.
Executive producer MihkelHarilaid told Screendaily.com that Lions Gate is the ideal partner and theagreement "one of the best Canadians deals I've heard of. They have stepped upwith a very supportive relationship that will allow us to keep a hand in themarketing and give the film a more than adequate theatrical release." The sale was negotiated by Harilaid forBlack Walk with Lions Gate's Brad Pelman and John Bain.
