Locarno will host the European premiere of Jay and Mark Duplass’ Cyrus at a Piazza Grande screening on August 7.
The comedy stars John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill, Marisa Tomei and Catherine Keener. Michael Costigan produced the Fox Searchlight project, and Tony and Ridley Scott executive produced.
John C. Reilly and the filmmakers will attend Locarno to present the film. Also, Locarno is planning a special tribute to Reilly. “John C. Reilly is a very special actor,” Locarno’s new artistic director Olivier Pere said.
In other Locarno news, the festival will present the first images from The Invisible Boy, a feature-film project by artist Philippe Parreno. The festival will also show someof his short films and the feature documentary he co-directed, Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait.
The 63rd edition of the Locarno Film Festival will run August 4-14 and the full line-up will be announced July 14.
Pere announced these initial plans at a Locarno reception at the Swiss Embassy in London last night.
