Le Grand Voyage, which won its director Ismael Ferroukhi the prize for best firstfilm at Venice last week, also found itself a home in Italy. In a deal arrangedby sales house Flach Pyramide International (FPI), the Franco-Moroccan financedfilm Italian distribution rights were picked up by Istituto Luce.
The film is a road movie about a father and son's journey fromtheir Parisian suburb to Mecca. Critics have seen it as a coming of age film,peppered with humour as the pair assemble an unlikely collection of travelingcompanions.
The deal wasnegotiated by Eric Lagesse for FPI and by Claudia Bedogni for Istituto Luce.
