The US premieres of Cherrybomb, Peacefire, and Gabriel Byrne: Stories from Home are among the line-up at the forthcoming Los Angeles Irish Film Festival (LAIFF).

The event will run from September 23-September 27 and will also showcase US premieres of Identities and The Secret Of Kells.

Previously announced titles include Magnolia Pictures’ supernatural drama and festival opener The Eclipse, as well as the rare Irish silent film The Days Of St Patrick.

“We are proud to be bringing five US premieres to festival audiences,” festival director Lisa McLaughlin-Strassman said. 

“The strong line-up for the 2009 Los Angeles Irish Film Festival continues to demonstrate that the new wave of filmmaking in Ireland is maturing, and we are pleased to be able to provide a forum for its storytelling tradition.”
