Jack Goes Boating, A Quiet Life (Una Vita Tranquila) and Animal Kingdom are among 15 titles in competition at this year’s Marrakech Film Festival (Dec 3 – 10).
The competition slate includes ten feature debuts and three sophomore productions, representing 15 different nationalities.
It has already been reported that US romantic comedy Henry’s Crime will open this year’s festival, with director Malcolm Venville expected to attend the opening night gala along with lead actors Keanu Reeves and James Caan, who will also be the subject of a special tribute.
John Malkovich will head the jury, comprising Moroccan actor/director/screenwriter Faouzi Bensaidi, Irish actor/producer/screenwriter GabrielByrne, Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung, Mexican actor/producer/director, French director/screenwriter/director Benoit Jacquot, American actress Eva Mendes, Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio and Egyptian actress Yousra.
To celebrate the festival’s tenth edition, previous presidents of the jury including Charlotte Rampling (2001), Volker Schlöndorff (2003), Alan Parker (2004), Milos Forman (2007) and Barry Levinson (2008) will attend the festival, which operates under the patronage of Moroccan President His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid.
