Marvel Studios has appointed Douglas Finberg executive vice president of international marketing in a significant move that demonstrates its intent to broaden global awareness of the slate.
Finberg arrives from Paramount Pictures International and faces a packed in-tray that includes Iron Man 2, which is due in theatres on May 7 2010, as well as the summer 2011 duo of Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America.
The executive previously served as senior vice president of international marketing at Paramount Pictures International and will work closely with the Paramount marketing and publicity teams.
In September 2008 Marvel signed a deal with Paramount for the latter to handle worldwide distribution on five Marvel titles. Tele Munchen will release Iron Man 2 in Germany and Austria.
Before joining Paramount Pictures International, Finberg was part of DreamWorks SKG, where he helped launch the company’s international theatrical division. At the start of his film career he worked with Universal and MGM/UA and also worked at LucasFilm.
