Maximum has also taken Canadian rights to six titles from New York-based Cinetic Media as part of an exclusive output agreement between the two companies sealed at last year's TIFF. The films are Ian Fitzgibbon's A Film With Me In It, Matt Aselton's Gigantic, Ramin Bahrani's Goodbye Solo, John Crowley's Is There Anybody There', Richard Linklater's Me And Orson Welles and Scott McGehee and David Siegel's Uncertainty.
The six Fortissimo films, all playing in Toronto, are Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Tokyo Sonata, Tatia Rosenthal's $9.99, Valdis 'skarsdottir's Country Wedding, Rashid Masharawi's Laila's Birthday, Brillante Mendoza's Serbis, and Guka Omarova's Native Dancer.
The deal was brokered between Fortissimo co-chairman Michael J. Werner and senior vice presidents sales & acquisitions Winnie Lau and Maximum's managing director Bryan Gliserman.
On making the announcement the Fortissimo pair said: 'We are very happy to be continuing our great collaboration with Maximum.'
The deal follows an output deal agreed during Toronto 2007 for Fortissimo to represent Maximum's films in Asia and for Maximum to distribute Fortissimo projects in Canada.
