The UK's South Bank Show has announced its nominees for its 2008 awards. The ITV show is presented by Melvyn Bragg and recognises several areas of the arts.
In the film category, the three nominees are Shane Meadows' This Is England, Joe Wright's Atonement and Anton Corbijn's Control.
Edgar Wright's hit film Hot Fuzz is also up for the comedy award, alongside BBC Three TV series Gavin and Stacey and Alan Carr: Tooth Fairy Live.
In the TV Drama category, Doctor Who goes up against two features that have been hits on the international festival circuit: Marc Munden's The Mark Of Cain and John Crowley's Boy A.
Also, Control star Sam Riley is up for The Times Breakthrough Award, alongside nominees from the world of TV, art, opera, music, dance, comedy, theatre, and literature.
Winners will be announced Jan 29 in London, and the awards are broadcast on ITV on Feb 3.
