Media 8 Entertainment has closed sales in a number of territories on its films The Horseman and Cash.
The California and Montreal-based film company has sold The Horseman to Umbrella for Australia. A theatrical release of the Australian-made film is planned for the second half of this year.
It has also closed theatrical deals for Benelux (Les Films D’Elysee), Turkey, (Horizon) the Middle East (Gulf) and Portugal (Lusomundo). As previously announced on ScreenDaily, Media 8 closed a UK theatrical deal with Kaleidoscope.
The Horseman is the debut film from Australian director Steven Kastrissios. It tells the story of a father (Peter Marshall) who, after learning of the suspicious death of his daughter through a videotape, sets out to find answers about her last hours alive.
Media 8 also found buyers at Cannes for its action film Cash, starring Sean Bean. G2 Pictures took all UK rights to the film, and Ascot-Elite took all rights in Germany. The film went to PlayArte in Brazil, LineTree in South Korea, Horizon in Turkey, Cinetel in Hungary, Programs 4 Media in Eastern Europe, and Gulf in the Middle East.
Cash is an action-driven psychological thriller that examines the gripping power money wields over us all. Directed by Stephen Milburn Anderson, it stars Chris Hemsworth and Victoria Profeta.
Media 8 Entertainment’s current slate of films also includes Dali and Brief Interviews With Hideous Men.
