The German and UK based sales agent K5 International, has closed a deal with Menemsha Films for the US and Canadian rights to Frez Tadmor and Sharon Maymon’s A Matter Of Size.
The film, which won the audience award at Karlovy Vary, tells the story of an overweight Israeli chef who forms Israel’s first sumo wrestling team. It is produced by Israel’s UCM Films, France’s Mact Productions and K5 Films. The remake rights have been acquired by The Weinstein Company.
K5 International will be screening the film at AFM. Sales have already been secured in Spain (Isaan Ent.), France (Ocean), The Czech Republic (Cinemart) and Turkey (Horizon), with further deals lined up in Singapore, and Korea.
K5 International’s Bill Stephens commented: “We are delighted to be in business with Menemsha. They showed great passion for the project and a strong distribution plan and that, coupled with the company’s other achievements with foreign language films, makes this an ideal home for A Matter Of Size.”
