EXCLUSIVE: Toronto Midnight Madness horror film is sold by Celsius’ genre label Fahrenheit Pictures.
Metrodome Group has acquired UK rights rights to horror film Come Out And Play, which just screened in Toronto’s Midnight Madness section.
Metrodome plans a 2013 theatrical release. The deal was negotiated by Thierry Wase-Bailey for Celsius’ genre label Fahrenheit Pictures and Metrodome’s Head of Acquisitions Joel Kennedy.
The film is directed by the mysterious, masked Makinov.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Vinessa Shaw star as a couple who take a holiday to an idyllic island off the Mexican coast, where they meet a merciless horde of homicidal children.
The English-language feature is produced by Mexico- and Los Angeles-based Canana.
Colin Geddes, programmer of TIFF’s Midnight Madness, called Makinov “the Daft Punk of horror-film directors. Cloaking his true identity in a shroud of secrecy, Makinov wears a mask while working with his cast and crew, in an effort to enforce his personal vision of a cinema that detaches itself from the ego-driven model of the director.”
