New Mexican film production company INDIFilms has bought a major stake in arthouse cinema Cinefrancia in Mexico City.

INDIFilms, run by Juan Carlos Blanco and his wife Mitzuko Villanueva, currently has three films in pre-production, both written and to be directed by Blanco.

Villanueva will take over the day to day operations of the Cinefrancia 'Maria Felix' theatre. Nicolas Piccato, who spearheaded the theatre's revival , will continue to help promote the theatre.

Blanco and Villanueva also own a film school which boasts at least 100 students. Blanco has also been developing a prototype for an inexpensive film camera. According to Blanco, Kodak has expressed an interest in what would be the first film camera to be Made in Mexico.

Blanco is in pre production for horror film El Legado, kids adventure La Noche Del Pirata and adventure drama Malverde.
