Knight Ibero-American Competition jury members are Morena Films co-founder Juan Gordon, Chilean film-maker Cristián Jimenez and film-maker Whit Stillman.
Knight Documentary Competition jurors are Hamptons International Film Festival executive director Anne Chaisson, TWC svp of acquisitions Dan Guando and International Documentary Association executive director Michael Lumpkin.
Lexus Ibero-American Opera Prima Competition jurors are film-maker Alejandro Landes, M&M Productions president and founder Tivi Magnusson and CinePlex partner and executive president Elba McAllister.
For the first time Miami Encuentros will award a cash prize of $10,000 to a winning project selected by a jury of industry professionals. The prize is sponsored by EGEDA, the Audiovisual Producers’ Rights Management Association from Spain.
In addition, Madrid and Barcelona-based international sales agency 6 Sales will offer a two-year representation contract to a winning project.
The members of the jury are 6 Sales head of sales Mar Abadin, HBO vp of film programming Leslie Cohen, Film Movement vp of acquisitions Rebeca Conget, and Urban Distribution International head of sales and acquisitions Eric Schnedecker.
CinemaSlam is a component of the festival’s Florida Focus programme and its competition aims to discover, showcase and celebrate the work of undergraduate and graduate students in Miami’s film schools.
Jury members are Sandy Lighterman, industry liaison at the Miami-Dade County Office Of Film & Entertainment’s department of regulatory and economic resources film and entertainment, and SOMOSTV marketing director Giselle Trainor.
The jury for the University Of Miami Shorts Competition comprises: Diliana Alexander, Rachael L Bleemer, Nicolas Calzada, Maggie Drayton, Annalis Garrido, Jon Jones, Dia Kontaxis, Lula Rodriguez, Lisa Sloat, Kevin Sharpley, and Igor Shteyrenberg
Festival executive director Jaie Laplante (pictured) made the announcement on Tuesday [21]. The 30th edition of the Miami International Film Festival is scheduled to run from Mar 1-10.
