The third edition of the Middle East International Film Festival (MEIFF) will take place from October 8-17 and will be held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The call for entries for the 2009 edition will open in May at a press conference during the Cannes Film Festival.

Popular initiatives introduced during the 2008 festival will be reprised in 2009 including Cinema Verite to raises awareness of socially conscious cinema and the Muslims on Screen and Television (MOST) initiative to improve the image of Muslims in Hollywood.

MEIFF is a cultural event that brings a diverse slate of international films and programs to the region and introduces filmmakers from around the world to its resources.
