MGM has tapped Shrek veteran Mike Mitchell to direct the live action fantasy Once Upon A Time.

Mitchell, who directed the upcoming Shrek Forever After, is represented by CAA and attorney Ken Richman.

Darryl Taja will produce for his Epidemic Pictures.

Once Upon A Time is about Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty happily married to the Charming brothers; but the brothers go missing and the fairy-tale sister-in-laws set out to save their husbands.

Charlie Vignola, Kevin Marcus and Bradley Marcus wrote the script. Vignola is also serving as an executive producer on the film.

Cale Boyter and Pam Silverstein are overseeing the project for MGM.
