MK2 has announced a deal with Michel Gondry’s Partizan Films to acquire international sales rights to Alastair Siddons’ breakdance documentary Turn It Loose and Gondry’s documentary The Thorn in the Heart.
Gondry’s film screened in Cannes this year as part of the special screenings section. It recalls the story of the director’s relationship with a beloved aunt. Oscilloscope has US and Canadian rights. It will also screen in official selection at the London Film Festival.
Turn It Loose is Siddons’ debut documentary about the BC ONE Breakdancing World Championships in Soweto, South Africa. Its international premiere was held at the Edinburgh Film Festival in June.
