France’s MK2 has picked up international rights to Jia Zhangke’s A Touch Of Sin screening in Cannes competition.
Following four characters in difference provinces of China, the film is described as a reflection of “an economic giant slowly being eroded by violence.”
The cast includes Jiang Wu, Wang Baoqiang, Zhao Tao, Luo Lanshang, Zhang Jiayi and Li Meng. Jia’s production company Xstream Pictures produced with Japan’s Office Kitano and Shanghai Film Group. MK2 has rights outside of China and Japan.
Jia was previously in Cannes competition with 24 City in 2008 and Unknown Pleasures in 2002, while his documentary I Wish I Knew played in Un Certain Regard in 2010. He won the Golden Lion in Venice in 2006 for Still Life.
