Momentum Pictures has secured all rights for the UK and Ireland to Tomas Alfredson's Swedish vampire romance Let The Right One In from sales agent Bavaria Film International.
Based on the bestselling novel by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, the crossover hit has been sold to all major territories including France (Chrysalis), Italy (Bolero Film), Spain (Karma Films), Greece (Seven Group), Benelux (Fantastic Films), C.I.S. and Baltic States (Maywin Media), Poland (Vivarto), Australia/New Zealand (Rialto), Austria (Filmladen), South Korea (The Daisy Entertainment) and Singapore (Lighthouse Pictures) as well as Argentina (Craldin) and Brazil (Mostra Internacional de Cinema).
A US theatrical release is currently being prepared by Magnolia/Magnet, while Germany's MFA is planning a Christmas 2008 release for the story of a lonely 12-year-old boy and his friendship with a girl who seems to be a vampire.
'The international sales success of Let The Right One In has exceeded our own expectations', says Stefanie Zeitler, head of sales with Bavaria Film International. 'It has now been sold into all major territories except Japan, and we are confident of completing a deal there in the very near future as well.'
