A Dangerous Method wins five prizes.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television presented its 32nd Annual Genie Awards last night, with Philippe Falardeau’s Monsieur Lazhar winning six prizes.
It won for best motion picture, direction and adapted screenplay.
A Dangerous Method followed closely with five awards, including best supporting actor for Viggo Mortensen.
Starbuck, which won the previously announced Cineplex Golden Reel Award, also picked up two more Genies for original screenplay and song.
“The competition was fierce in this vintage year for Canadian film,” said Helga Stephenson, ACCT Interim CEO. “The industry is strong, more Canadians are watching Canadian film than ever before and we look forward to more great films from our incredible pool of film talent.”
