DreamWorks' Monsters Vs Aliens continues its dominance of the global box-office becoming the highest-grossing foreign film in Russia so far this year.
The film could break box-office records after attracting 2.6m admission in just two weeks. It has already become the highest grossing original animation opener (not a sequel) this year with $5.9m (Roubles 196m) beating last summer's DreamWorks hit, Kung Fu Panda, which grossed $5.8m (Roubles 193m) in its first week of release.
Last year, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa , another international hit for DreamWorks, was the highest-grossing animated film in CIS box office history, when it took in $40.8m, drawing 7,660,278 admissions.
Central Partnership's spokesperson Yulia Kulikova said: '3-D releases have great potential, given that the proportion between the number of total and 3-D screens in Russia is relatively high. Our next release My Bloody Valentine will be released in 3-D only, which will be a first for Russia in terms of feature films (not cartoons) being released exclusively in 3-D.'
Central Partnership became the official distributor of Paramount Pictures International films in the CIS (excluding Ukraine) in January 2009.
