Ivan Reitman's Montecito Pictures isset to commence principal photography this summer on Trailer Park Boys- The Movie, a feature adaptation of theCanadian cult television series about the antics of three 'hosers'- Ricky, Julian and Bubbles - in a Maritime backwater.
The production will team series director,head writer and creator Mike Clattenburg with the original cast members, RobbWells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith. The film will shoot in Halifax.
Reitman said, 'Trailer Park Boys represents a fresh voice in contemporary comedy: well-definedcharacters with emotional depth and hilarious writing. What might seem likeeffortless improvisation is actually the product of Mike Clattenburg'sfocused vision and the talented creative team that supports him.' Theproduction is a coup for Alliance Atlantis' Showcase Television specialtychannel which began broadcasting the series in 2001. The programme is seen inthe UK on Paramount Comedy Channel. Alliance Atlantis' Motion PictureDistribution will release the film across Canada in Summer 2006.
The feature will be produced by Clattenburgand fellow series producers Barrie Dunn and Mike Volpe along withMontecito's Joe Medjuck and Jackie Marcus. Reitman will executive producealong with Montecito colleague Tom Pollock. It is produced with theparticipation of Telefilm Canada and the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporationin association with Showcase Television with assistance from the Canadian Filmand Video Tax Credit and Nova Scotia Tax Credit.
