Benelux distributor ParadisoFilm Entertainment has named Olivier Mortagne as its new head of international acquisitionsand Patrick Terryn as chief operating officer. The appointments come in thewake of Erich Engelen's departure from the company earlier in the summer. Asannounced earlier this week, Engelen has now joined A-Film.
The appointment of Mortagneis seen as "a natural progression for the company." He has been attendingmarkets and festivals for five years with Paradiso and helping with acquisitionactivity. It is expected that he will slightly shift Paradiso's buyingstrategy, putting more emphasis on acquiring mainstream fare.
Terryn comes to Paradisofrom the Kinepolis Group in Europe, where he was head of theatrical bookings.Terryn launched Kinepolis activities in Poland and was responsible forprogramming the company's signature multiplexes in Poland, Switzerland, Franceand Belgium.
His brief is to "re-tool"Paradiso's theatrical distribution activities and open its theatricaldistribution office in Holland. Paradiso will be one of the few organizationswith offices in both Holland and Belgium.
Paradiso's upcoming releasesinclude Number 23, Fur, Hors de Prix, Pan's Labyrinth, We Own the Night,Crank and Alpha Dog.
