Emirati filmmaker Ali F. Mostafa is gearing up to shoot his new feature, road movie A To B, with a trio of leading producers from the Arab world and backing from Abu Dhabi’s twofour54.
Egyptian producer Mohamed Hefzy, Lebanese producer Paul Baboudjian and Saudi producer Mohammed Al Turki have boarded the project, which is scheduled to start shooting at the end of October. The six-week shoot will take in locations in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Oman, Jordan and Lebanon.
Hefzy also wrote the script for the English and Arabic-language film, which follows three young Arab expats who undertake a road trip from Abu Dhabi to Beirut in memory of their best friend. Casting is currently underway for the three lead roles and the film will also feature cameo appearances from leading Arab stars.
The film has a product placement tie-up with Range Rover, the luxury brand with which Mostafa has an endorsement partnership.
Mostafa previously directed award-winning 2009 drama City Of Life, which was set in Dubai. Hefzy started out as a screenwriter before moving into producing with films such as Microphone and Tahrir 2011. Baboudjian’s credits include Here Comes The Rain and documentary A World Not Ours. Al Turki works in the Middle East and Hollywood, on films such as Arbitrage starring Richard Gere.
“I’ve been looking for the right follow-up project to City Of Life and think A To B will appeal to audiences internationally as well as across the Arab region,” Mostafa said.
