Walt Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross has given Scottish media executive MT Carney the top marketing job at Disney, the studio confirmed today [21].
Carney previously headed up the New York-based agency Naked Communications, whose clients have included Coca-Cola and Google.
The appointment is the culmination of a five-month search that saw Ross look outside as well as within the Hollywood community. Significantly it fills the last key slot in his excutive suite.
Carney will oversee all aspects of worldwide marketing and distribution, including all creative, media, online development, publicity, promotions and synergy for features released under the Walt Disney Pictures (including Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Animation) and Touchstone Pictures divisions.
“MT represents a unique type of marketing executive - she has built global teams, can market a product across multiple platforms and has firsthand knowledge of new media and its effectiveness in reaching consumers,” Ross said.
