The 20th Holland Film Meeting will this year present 14 International projects and six Dutch projects at the Netherlands Production Platform (NPP).
The NPP encourages co-production between the Netherlands and other countries by pitching selected projects to international film professionals in order to assess their market potential.
Among the projects to be presented this year are: the Swedish project The Pigsties directed by Cannes award winning actress Pernilla August; UK project Um Hussein by Mohamed Al-Daradji; Seeing Chris from Ireland by Tom Cairns; and Dutch project 1-900 directed by John Turturro.
Projects that have previously benefited from the NPP include Radu Jude's The Happiest Girl in the World where Dutch producers Circe Films found a co-producer in Romanian production company Hi Films Production, and Agnes Kocsis' Adrienn Pal where Isabella Films teamed with Hungarian company Print KMH.
The annual Kodak NPP Development Prize of $7,500 (Euros 5,000) prize will again be awarded to one of the Dutch projects presented.
For 2008, the Film Meeting will also host a networking session on the Dutch production industry. The event will highlight and explain the financial incentives that Holland offers to film producers through public and private funding.
Representatives from leading Dutch co-production houses such as Rinkle Film and TV, and Volya Films will be present alongside representatives from major Dutch funding bodies including the Netherland's Film Fund, the Rotterdam Film Fund and the Dutch Independent Documentary Fund (DID).
'The session will be both informal and informative, 'commented HFM head Ellis Driessen, 'It will offer the foreign producers and filmmakers an insight into how financing and production of films in the Netherlands is conducted and, as importantly, will assess what the realistic chances are for co-production.'
This year the annual Binger-Screen International interview will be with award-winning actress Kerry Fox, best known for her roles in films such as An Angel at My Table, Shallow Grave, and Intimacy.
