New Films has acquired worldwide rights to Deon Taylor’s horror film Chain Letter starring Nikki Reed and Brad Dourif.
The LA-based production, sales and distribution company plans a US theatrical release in 2010 on the story of a serial killer who preys on teens who refuse to forward a chain mail.
New Films chief content officer Ron Gell and the film’s producer Todd Slater negotiated the dea with Deon Taylor Enterprises, which includes Taylor’s first comedy The Hustle, which New Films is also selling overseas.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Deon Taylor,” Gell said. “He has directed an amazingly scary film. Chain Letter is a highly commercial film for both the US market and for our international buyers.”
