Robert Beeson and Pam Engel's new UK distribution company New Wave Films has acquired two more films.
They are Arnaud Desplechin's Cannes Competitor A Christmas Tale (Un Conte de Noel) and Gideon Koppel's documentary Sleep Furiously.
A Christmas Tale, already a box-office success in France, stars Catherine Deneuve and Mathieu Amalric. In the carefully observed story of a dysfunctoinal family coming together for the holidays. Wild Bunch handles sales.
Sleep Furiously, a documentary about everyday life in small village in Wales, premiered at the recent Edinburgh International Film Festival. It marks New Wave's second acquisition of a UK film following Joanna Hogg's Unrelated. Margaret Matheson's Bard Entertainments struck the deal with New Wave.
Other recent New Wave acquisitions include Tulpan, Adoration, 24 City, Quiet Chaos and The Silence Of Lorna.
