UK art house distributor New Wave Films has picked up a title apiece from Venice and Toronto.
The company, run by Robert Beeson and Pam Engel, took French auteur Jacques Rivette’s 36 vues Du Pic Saint Loup (Around A Small Mountain) which premiered in competition in Venice last week. Les Films du Losange handled the sale.
Also just acquired is Bruno Dumont’s Hadewijch, sold internationally by Pyramide and which is a world premiere here as a Special Presentation.
Both 36 vues and Hadewijch will receive their UK premieres in the “French Revolutions” section of next month’s Times BFI London Film Festival.
New Wave’s recent cinema releases have included Gideon Koppel’s Sleep Furiously, Claire Denis’ 35 Shots of Rhum and Andrzej Jakimowski’s Tricks. Beeson and Engel were among the very few British buyers in attendance at Venice last week.
